Clark and I recently found out the exciting news that we will be having a baby boy, Greyson Mitchell. We are so excited for what the future holds and still have several months before his arrival, but I of course couldn't wait any longer to begin planning our nursery! I knew that I wanted a space that was tranquil, relaxing, and neutral. Bringing in several shades of gray keeps the room relaxing, but with a few pops of brass and wood I was able to warm the space up. Mixing textures and materials helps the room to stay interesting and fun without bringing in a bold pattern or color that may go out of style as quickly as the season changes. I'm thrilled with the way everything is coming together and can't wait to share the final look with you!

In January, I participated in the Milwaukee Builder's Association Home Show at our State Exposition Center. We were given a 30'x50' concrete slab in the middle of the room and had to figure out how to make it feel like you were stepping into a home. After mapping out in our space planning system the different 'rooms' we wanted to create, we were able to narrow down exactly how many individual spaces we could create. We wanted to show several different styles since West Elm offers a great variety of Mid-Century Modern, Rustic, Updated Modern, etc. Adding somebookshelves and curtain displays helped us to add dimension and height to the rooms while the rug layering defined the individual spaces. All the accessories and decor helped bring the spaces to life and ultimately created a comfortable homey feeling in the middle of a showroom.
The holidays are a busy time of year but nothing makes you stop for a moment and soak it all in like some Christmas twinkle! This winter, I worked with Angie from A House on Prarie Lane to decorate her space for the holidays. With a Christmas/House Warming party coming up, she wanted to bring in some holiday spirit but wasn't sure where to begin. We started by looking at her existing decor and style to ensure the decorations would be a reflection of the rest of her home. With the brass and navy she already had in the space, I knew pulling in some of the navy and blush accents that West Elm added to their 2017 Holiday collection would be the perfect touch. The outcome was a modern take on a wonderful tradition of holiday decorating, and helped everyone to feel that Christmas cheer. West Elm also featured this space on their Front+Main Blog, so be sure to check out the rest of the pictures and style inspiration!
Well it was time for us to move on to our next home adventure and this meant preparing ours for sale. With the proper staging and styling, we were able to make sure our small house had a big impact on everyone that came through. Within 4 days, we had accepted a close-to full price offer and not long after said goodbye to our first home. A few of you saw the before pictures so I wanted to showcase how we left it - newly finished hardwood floors, new paint/trim, master bedroom built-ins, refreshed powder bathroom, new landscaping, and of course updated furnishings, lighting, and staging. Small fixes can make such a difference in your home, especially when listing to sell, so don't hold back and take pride in the little things!
Well it's technically spring here in Milwaukee, but the temperature sure doesn't seem to think so. We may finally be able to shed our coats but it's definitely still sweater weather. Lucky for me, there's nothing I love more than a great chunky sweater with a pair of chucks.
I have a feeling I've said that a few times before. I've found myself falling in love with the many sweater trends going on and am absolutely a sucker for anything light pink. Although these sweaters aren't necessarily meant to keep you extra warm, they are a great example of making something practical, fashionable. So what're your thoughts on these three trends? |
This is a representation of who I am, and a few of the things I love. I am excited to share with you a little bit about my life, and glad you're along for my journey!
