The Not so Big Move

*less of an interior design post, more of a 'what's to come' post

Well we're moving.. again.  Clark and I have lived in so many different places in the last 3.5 years I've started to lose count.  There's always one thing or another wrong with each apartment, management company, or maintenance staff.  It may sound dramatic, but we once had a broken dryer for 6 weeks before anyone bothered to swap it out.  We have also gone 2 months with only 5 minutes of warm water, yes just warm.  We of course only had that water if no one ran the dish washer, did laundry, or already took a shower that day.

However, we have loved our current apartment.  When we signed our lease, the management company was extremely flexible and helpful, the maintenance staff responded to problems the day of, and the apartment is the perfect size in the best location.  Almost too good to be true, right? Exactly.

We got home from Christmas vacation to a notice about renewing our lease.  We of course immediately planned to renew, but things don't always work out as planned.  Clark and I need to sign a 15 month lease so that we will have a place to live until May 2016, when he graduates.  At that point we will know if we will be staying in WI or moving somewhere new.  I emailed the leasing agent to let her know what we were hoping for, and after a few days she told me it wasn't possible.  See, our great management company that we signed our lease with sold the property to a new company.  Now they are not so flexible and accommodating.  Because they would only allow a 12 month lease, we were now stuck looking for a new home.

One thing to know about me is that I always have my eye on what new homes and apartments are coming up on the market.  Because of this, it took all but 15 minutes to discover the perfect town home which was only $75 more than what we currently pay.  I called the property manager and within 24hrs., Clark and I filled out our applications and put down money to take it off the market.

Today we signed our lease and we'll be moving on March 1st.  So can you guess what that means? Decorating! As much as I hate leaving the first place in MKE that I've loved, I'm excited to embrace the change, and the best way to do that is by decorating and making it home.  Beginning March 1st, you can expect several new Interior Design posts as well I'm sure a few funny moving stories.
Stay Tuned!
