*Update: Some of the information in this post is outdated.  The site has been "overhauled" since this post was done, and therefore things have been added and deleted.

I'm beginning to feel guilty for not having posted anything yet.. So here we go!  Life has been especially crazy the last few weeks: school, moving, work, etc.  My plan is to post every day and include a picture of my outfit, but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to actually start doing so.  I have a few very professional pictures of my recent outfits that my wonderful boyfriend has taken for me.  They are definitely all far from perfection, and usually something I threw together five minutes before running out the door.  But HEY! that's what this blog is all about. I hate to leave my page without any of MY actual outfits, so here they are!  This post, as I'm sure you saw, is called a Temporary Post because that's all it is.  When things settle down a bit I will delete this post and FINALLY begin to show you My Flawed Fashion through what I'm wearing! Stay Tuned! :)

From the progression of my outfits you would think spring is coming and that it is getting warmer... well IT'S NOT! Sadly, it is still absolutely freezing here.  (My last outfit in the fluted black skirt from JCrew and the white T-shirt was only worn inside.)  You can't blame a girl for dreaming of sunshine and a nice tan.

My outfit here (Eaton trouser in Pinot Noir from JCrew, a Perfect Fit button down also from JCrew, nude 5" heels from Aldo, and my favorite tote, of course also from JCrew) was one that I picked to wear for a recent interview I had.  The interview was to be a Merchandise Analyst Intern for Kohl's Corporate.  The reason I chose this outfit was for a few reasons.  Originally my intention was to wear a button down, blazer, and pencil skirt.. All the typical things you wear to an interview.  However, I learned the night before the interview that the typical dress attire at Kohl's is Business Casual with an emphasis on casual.  It is always important in an interview to dress for the job you are applying for, but it is also crucial to be able to relate to the person you will be interviewing with.  I not only did not want to show up greatly overdressed (although normally I say overdressed is better than underdressed), but I also did not want to blend in.  There were going to be just under 100 other applicants applying for this internship and I knew exactly what they would all be wearing: a black pant/pencil skirt suit.  I was completely right! I showed up at Kohl's the morning of the interview in Pinot Noir colored pants, an untucked crisp button down, and a perfectly matching tote.  Immediately walking into the room all I saw were black outfits with no personality.

To avoid dragging on, I'll cut right to it! Everyone spent the day complimenting my style and connecting with me on a personal level.  We were able to get past the awkward tension of competing for a job and instead focus on something more carefree and fun: FASHION! This same connection was not only made with my fellow applicants, but also with the three people interviewing me.  I felt more comfortable, they seemed more comfortable, and the interview became more of a conversation than an interrogation.  After my interview, one of the women I spoke to reached out to me and said that I really stood out to her and seemed like I would fit in well with everyone at Kohl's.  Of course I know that a lot of this credit should be given to what I said in the Interviews, but I know that my outfit gave me the confidence I needed to walk in as though I already had the job.

Annnd I GOT THE JOB!!

Now I want to be clear: my outfit was not perfect. I didn't have any jewelry on (I didn't have time in the morning), I did not have my shirt perfectly tucked in some way or another, and to be honest I probably should have ironed my clothes first.  My outfit was made up of four very simple pieces, and was extremely quick and easy to put on.  However, I wore it all with confidence.  I allowed my confidence to be the accessory to my outfit and that is what made it stand out! You and your style don't have to be perfect, but if you allow your inner beauty to shine through, no one else will see any of your imperfections.  Your style should just be a reflection of your personality, which never will be perfect.  Express who you are through your own Flawed Fashion.

My fashion is a representation of my personality: imperfect, always evolving, classic, but a little quirky.
