We all have a few favorite items to keep with us daily in any purse or bag. Typically when traveling I am sure to bring those same items. However, when your flight is 9 hours long, you need a few extra things to keep you entertained. As Clark and I prepare for our long anticipated Europe trip, more and more time has been devoted to packing. Our trip is 21 days long but we are both limited to only one suit case under 40 pounds, and one carry-on. Therefore, all the more importance is being placed on this carry-on & exactly what I put in it.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love having all of my photos available to me at just the touch of a finger. Technology had made it possible for me to pull up pictures of my dogs at every moment possible to brag about how adorable they are.. I'm sure you all love it just as much as I do. In today's world, we feel empty without having constant access to every single picture, good or blurry, because they represent a memory.
However, this reliance on technology makes me a little nervous. I am a frequent watcher of movies and tv shows where all power is lost, and technology no longer exists. While our first thought would not be our photos, we would eventually come to the realization that all of those photos, those memories would be lost. Because of this justifiable paranoia, I am a huge fan of prints! Many of my friends & family know how much I enjoy interior design. It's actually to the point where I look forward to moving every year so that I have a new space to design. I will spend hours staring at a floor plan online just to dream up exactly how I want everything.
Of course nothing ever stays where I think it will. We often walk into our new, empty home and just create a mess. Even if I have a plan on paper, there's something different about being in the space - understanding how everything flows together. I often sit in our empty rooms for a good amount of time before telling Clark, I mean helping Clark, to bring everything in. Then we bring in piece by piece and put things anywhere there is space. After getting everything in, I really get started. With everything in front of me and the spaces free, I can start visualizing just where things should go. By the end of the day.. or week.. everything has its own perfect place. When you move and have a blank slate, everything can have a new meaning, new purpose. A small table or desk can become a bar. A short, narrow dresser can become... |
This is a representation of who I am, and a few of the things I love. I am excited to share with you a little bit about my life, and glad you're along for my journey!
